CARE FOR CARRERA Y CARRERA and JOIE JEWELRY PIECES
Your jewelry should be cleaned on a regular basis. You can use a very soft brush (a baby’s toothbrush works well for this) and soapy water to clean. Then rinse, with the drain closed, under clean lukewarm water. Joie Jewelry recommends that you bring your jewelry to our store once a year, to have it checked and cleaned.
Joie Jewelry recommends removing your jewelry before going to sleep, gardening or, playing sports. Gold is a soft metal so avoid contact with perfume (put your jewelry on last when getting ready), alcohol, hand gels, salt water, and keep your pieces away from extreme temperature changes.
Prevent damage or loss of your jewels by storing them individually in their original box or pouch after wearing them. If you don’t have a box, wrapping each piece in a soft cloth is a good alternative. Avoid storing with other jewelry pieces to avoid scratches. Clasps on chains and necklace should be closed and laid flat to avoid tangling.
If your jewelry suffers a shock or hit, the stone setting may need to be checked. Avoid forcing clasps, joints and metal frames and be sure to check that the clasp and safety latch close properly. If you have any concerns, you should not wear your jewelry until you have had it checked by an expert in our boutique.
All the above are great ways for you to take care of your fine gold jewelry. However, we recommend having your jewelry professionally cleaned and checked for loose claws annually.

CARE FOR PD PAOLA PIECES
All PDPAOLA articles have been treated with a technique that helps to prevent loss of shine.
However, it is still important that you follow PD Paola’s suggested care instructions.
Your jewelry can lose its shine when exposed to air during a long period of time.
Loss of shine or tarnishing is a natural process that can be recovered through a special washing.
PD Paola strongly recommends taking off your jewelry before going to bed, showering, or taking part in any physical activity. Exposure to certain chemicals or environments may compromise the integrity of your jewelry. This includes (but is not limited to): perspiration (sweat), perfumes/colognes, cleaning products, chlorine, salt water, or silver polish, etc.
Cleaning your jewelry (special washing)
Mix a little soap with lukewarm water and rub the item with a soft toothbrush. Toothbrushes are perfect for cleaning jewelry with difficult-to-access corners. If dirt persists, carry out the same process in clean water. Important: gold-plated items require greater care. Rubbing too hard may cause loss of plating. It is therefore important that you do this gently in order to avoid any damage. A special silver-polishing cloth is a great tool to make your jewelry shine again, in the event that it becomes darkened over time. However, this technique will not remove any scratches or dents present on the jewelry.
How to preserve your jewelry
Your jewelry should be kept away from any exposure to sunlight or warm places, ideally in a padded jewelry box or tarnish-resistant bag. You can also keep these in individual airtight plastic (polyethylene) bags. Never use rubber containers, as these can result in accelerated tarnishing and are likely to cause the jewelry to darken. Under no circumstances should you keep your jewelry in a bathroom or any humid locations. Keep in mind that PDPAOLA boxes are not designed to keep items in perfect condition for prolonged periods of time, as they are not airtight containers, and colour alteration may occur due to lack of use.
PDPAOLA cannot guarantee that the gold-plating of our items will last forever. Gold-plated items are, by their nature, more fragile and susceptible to lose colour over time. The speed at which this colour fades will depend on various factors, such as the use of chemical products on the skin, how much the wearer sweats, or even the pH level of the individual’s skin. For this reason, it is particularly important to ensure suitable care of your gold-plated jewelry.
CARE FOR UNO de 50 PIECES
UNOde50’s jewelry is produced in a handcrafted manner with various materials that require a particular type of cleaning. Below you will find some tips to follow depending on the type of piece:
SILVER PLATED PIECES:
Sterling silver can react by darkening when exposed to the air and light, or in certain cases, by the different types of Ph of the skin. To clean these types of pieces UNOde50 recommends that this is done by using a soft cloth or with a non-abrasive silver cleaner to prevent damage.
GOLD PLATED PIECES:
For the proper cleaning of these pieces, UNOde50 recommends you use a soft cotton cloth on a regular basis (weekly) to keep the jewel in good condition. In the event that the piece is very dirty the same cloth can be used with warm water and mild soap, and once the process is finished, dry with a soft dry cloth or paper. Care must be taken with leather and the stones or crystals that the piece may have, because these materials may require another type of care.
Mild soap or a moisturizing cream, which is unscented and colorant free, can be used to clean the leather parts of your jewelry.
The use of a soft cloth is recommended to enhance the brightness of the beads and counters on your pieces.
CRYSTALS AND GLASS
Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the parts of crystal or glass.
HOW TO STORE THE PIECES?
To maintain your piece as new, UNOde50 recommends it is stored in an individual bag, in its original packaging or in a closed box. Try to prevent contact with the air, direct light or humidity, as this can lead to deterioration of the piece.
Keep in mind that jewelry is greatly affected by external Ph so it is important to avoid, as far as possible, any contact with perfumes or other cosmetic products.
CARE FOR TOUS PIECES
To avoid scratching the jewels, TOUS recommends you to keep them in the original boxes and avoid the contact with other jewels.
You should clean your gold and silver jewelry with mild soap and a soft brush and warm water. After rinsing off the soap with lots of cold water and drying the piece carefully, your jewelry will look like new again.
Gold and silver can show signs of oxidation when they come into contact with air. This reaction can be accentuated as a result of contact with your skin Ph. Consequently, gold may take on a reddish tinge and silver a dark, yellowish shade. To clean your jewelry, either bring it to one of the TOUS stores, or clean it yourself easily by using a soft chamois cloth available at TOUS stores.
DIAMONDS AND GEMSTONES NEED SPECIAL CARE
Avoid hitting them against hard surfaces or subjecting them to extreme temperature changes.
The diamond is indeed the hardest jewel, but it is nevertheless fragile; contrary to other gems, diamonds cannot be scratched, but they can break. Rings and bracelets with diamonds and precious gemstones must be handles with special care, because the gems and the settings which hold them undergo continuous daily use.
Gems present characteristics which make them unique and extraordinary. The small variations and inclusions, the tiny traces of other minerals which they may contain, make them exclusive.
